Futurechef competition is a national cooking competition for young people aged 12 – 16 years old.
Students are challenged to cook under pressure and develop practical skills through timed cook-offs in school heats. Our two winners were Adrian Cabubbas and Ava Benjamin both in year 9. They went through to the local heats at Loughborough College where they had to cook a two course meal for two people in 90 minutes.
Ava cooked a breast of chicken stuffed with spinach, wrapped in bacon, and served with a vegetable cous cous and a creamy stilton sauce, followed by baked lemon tart with a raspberry coulis.
Adrian cooked breaded goujons of chicken with stir fry vegetables and a kenzo sauce, followed by chocolate fondant pudding with an orange sauce and crème anglaise.
Ava came third which was an amazing achievement although both students were highly commended by the judges.
