How can you play with your feet? What are all the buttons for?
Conor O'Grady, student Communication Officer, has created this radio piece for the event this Saturday.
Do you have piano students who might like to explore the organ? Or young organ pupils who would benefit from performing in a masterclass? The RCO is hosting an organ discovery day at English Martyrs School, Anstey Lane, Leicester on Saturday 23 September 2017 aimed at young people aged 10–14 who are currently studying, or who may be intrigued to learn more about, the organ.
Teachers can put forward organ students aged under 18 for a morning masterclass with Steven Grahl (below left, Director of Music, Peterborough Cathedral), and curious 10–14 year-olds will enjoy Steven's introduction to the organ in the afternoon while Robert Gower (below right, organist at St Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham) introduces a repertoire session for masterclass participants. This is followed by a tea break before a public concert (16:00) given by Steven on the new Peter Collins organ (above). A complete timetable can be found on the website: just click the button below.
There is no charge for attendance, but places must be booked in advance and students attending must be accompanied at all times by an adult. Click here for full booking details.
The recital programme has been devised to intrigue and entertain a young audience, but is a public event open to all. There is no charge, but please pre-book by email (details via this link).
