Music Competitions

On Friday 7th July the Music Department held two wonderful competitions for Instrumental and Vocal Soloists and Year 7 tutor groups.

In our first competition soloists from all years in the school competed in two categories - Advanced and Intermediate. The level of playing in both categories was superb, the musicians performing fluid and sonorous pieces, with fierce confidence.  Congratulations to our intermediate category winner Angel Gomes, Flute, and advanced category winner Thomas Good, Violin (pictured)

The second competition was a musical performance between all of the forms in Year 7. Pieces included “Glory to God”, “Summer Nights”, “Rolling in the Deep”, “Any Dream Will Do”, “Worlds Greatest” and “Eye of the Tiger”.

The winners were 7 More who performed “Eye of The Tiger” on brass, piano, keyboards, guitars, drum kit and vocals.  Their fantastic prize is that the whole form will go bowling for an afternoon in the new school year.

Both competitions were difficult to judge, and we are very thankful to Ms Summerfield and Mrs Silverwood for taking on this challenging task.
