Visit from the Royal Academy of Music

English Martyrs' Music Society was fortunate to be visited by two outstanding young musicians from the Royal Academy of Music: the tenor Riku Matsubara and pianist Shiori Hosoda.

The programme was devoted to arias from famous operas by Handel, Mozart, Verdi and Puccini, and rarer ones by Bononcini and Lalo. The arias were all performed by Riku and Shiori, and each one was introduced by Mr Simeone. The concert came to an exciting conclusion with Riku's rousing performance of 'Nessun dorma!' from Puccini's Turandot.

We are most grateful to Mrs Yoshimi Gregory of the Royal Academy of Music for her help in arranging this event which was attended by a large number of visitors to the school as well as by three classes from Year 7 and Year 9 and members of Schola Cantorum, Young Voices and the School Orchestra.
