On Thursday 3 March we had many visitors in school as Mr Carney had invited the Headteachers of our diocesan schools to a meeting. As part of their day there was a tour of the school with senior students and an opportunity to see our new facilities. In the afternoon The Right Honourable Nicky Morgan MP, Education Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities, met the Heads to discuss aspects of current government policy.
The conversation was wide ranging and included the many current changes to education including the curriculum and arts education; the new examination system; school funding and teacher recruitment; the E Bacc and the status of Religious education and the European referendum. The Secretary of State was very impressed by our new buildings and although time was tight she was introduced to some staff and students prior to Year 8’s parents’ consultation meeting.
