English-Speaking Union Churchill Public Speaking Competition for Schools

We are delighted to report on the success of our team in the first round of the English-Speaking Union Churchill Public Speaking Competition for Schools held at Uppingham School on Tuesday 19th January.

Against very high quality teams from Oundle School, Uppingham School, Wellingborough School and Catmose College Sini Mathew, Joseph Mapletoft and Isaac Saunders were awarded second place.

As chair Isaac made everyone feel at ease and as questioner Joseph enabled their guest speaker from Catmose to develop his ideas fully. Sini delivered an excellent speech on the problems caused by obesity.

Should the winners from Oundle be unable to attend the Regional Final at Cambridge University, the team from English Martyrs will take their place. We are proud of their achievement in this prestigious competition.
