A group of sixth form students and four staff boarded a coach for Heathrow Airport to catch a flight to JFK Airport in New York on 14th October. Ahead of us were five action packed days that would include visits to Coney Island, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Wall Street, Federal Hall, the Museum of the Native American Indian, the 9/11 Memorial, South Street Seaport China Town, Little Italy, Grand Central Station, St Paul's Chapel and Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral. We saw Manhattan from the "Top of the Rock" (Rockerfeller Center) and the top of the Empire State. We could not resist seeing a Bradway show; either Les Miserables or Avenue Q and we all enjoyed a meal at the world famous Hard Rock Cafe on Broadway and a walk in Central Park. Besides all the cultural and historical aspects of the visit, gift shopping at Bloomingdales, Macy's, Times Square, Dylan's Candy Store and the shops on 5th Avenue completed the amazing experience.
